On 24 January, the Network for Democracy in Burma (NDB) held protests at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calling on the Japanese government not to recognize the new parliament that was elected through the regime’s undemocratic elections. See photos here. On the following day, NDB delivered a letter to His Excellency Mr. Seiji Maehara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, with the group’s calls.
NDB held a second protest on 26 January at the Parliament House in Toyko. Azuma Konno, Member of the House of Councillors, the National Diet of Japan, and the General Secretary of The Japanese Parliamentary Group Supporting Democratization in Myanmar (Minshuka Giren), also attend the demonstration at to give a speech. More than 300 people joined a third demonstration at the regime’s Embassy in Tokyo on 31 January. See photos here.
