Villagers Relocated from Myitsone Dam Area Appeal to Return Home

On March 14, 252 villagers from Tanghpre village submitted an appeal letter to Kachin State Minister and Government administration, requesting to return to their village due to the inhabitability of the relocation areas in Aung Myin Tha village. They also reported the issues they are currently facing relating to the construction of the Myitsone Dam, including a case in which the District Administrator summoned 22 villagers who returned to their village following the suspension of Myitsone Dam Project. Authorities had previously promised relocated villagers that they could continue living in their villages until the area is finally flooded. Upon summoning the villagers, the District Administrator told them to dismantle their houses with their own means no later than March 17, and that they are prohibited to return to the areas for which compensation had already been given. The District Administrator also asked them to sign a memorandum that states they would not live and do any business in Tangphre area and that they understood they would be prosecuted according to exciting law if they disobeyed the order.

ေအာင္ျမင္သာစံျပေက်းရြာေန ေဒသခံျပည္သူမ်ားသည္ မိမိတို႕ေျပာင္းေရြ႕သြားခဲ့ေသာ ေနရာမ်ားမွာ စိုက္ပ်ဳိးေမြးျမဴေရး လုပ္ငန္းမ်ား လုပ္ကိုင္ရန္ ခက္ခဲေသာေၾကာင့္ မိမိမူရင္းေနရပ္ ေက်းရြာမ်ားသို႕ ျပန္လည္အေျခခ်ႏိုင္ရန္ႏွင့္ ျမစ္ဆံုဆည္တည္ေဆာက္မႈႏွင့္ ပက္သတ္၍ ၾကံဳေတြ႕ေနရေသာ အခက္အခဲမ်ားကို မတ္လ (၁၄) ရက္ ၂၀၁၂ ခုႏွစ္တြင္ ကခ်င္ျပည္နယ္ဝန္ၾကီးခ်ဳပ္ႏွင့္ အစိုးရအဖြဲ႕ထံ အသနားခံစာ တင္ျပခဲ့ၾကသည္။ ျမစ္ဆံု ဆည္ၾကီးကို တည္ေဆာက္ေနေသာ္လည္း ေရမဝပ္မခ်င္းကာလပတ္လံုး လြတ္လပ္စြာ ေနထိုင္လုပ္ကိုင္ စားေသာက္ခြင့္ျပဳေၾကာင္း သက္ဆိုင္ရာ လူၾကီးမ်ား၏ ကတိရွိထားသည့္အေလ်ာက္ ဆည္တည္ေဆာင္မႈေၾကာင့္ ေျပာင္းေရြ႕ခဲ့ရေသာ ရြာသားမ်ားအနက္ မိမိေနရပ္သို႕ ျပန္လာခဲ့သည့္ ရြာသား ၂၂ ဦးကို ခရုိင္အုပ္ခ်ဳပ္ေရးမွဴးမွ ရုတ္တရက္ ေခၚေဆာင္သြားျပီး အိမ္ေဟာင္းမ်ားကိုလည္း မတ္လ (၁၇) ရက္ ၂၀၁၂ ခုႏွစ္ေနာက္ဆံုးထားျပီး မိမိအစီအစဥ္ျဖင့္ ဖ်က္သိမ္းရန္ႏွင့္ နစ္နာေၾကးေပးျပီးသား နယ္ေျမမ်ားသို႕ (လံုးဝ) ျပန္လည္အေျခခ်ေနထိုင္ခြင့္ မရွိေၾကာင္း ေျပာဆိုခဲ့သည္။ ထို႕ျပင္ တန္ဖဲေဒသတြင္ ေနထိုင္လုပ္ကိုင္ စားေသာက္ျခင္း မျပဳလုပ္ေတာ့ပါေၾကာင္း ဝန္ခံကတိ လက္မွတ္ေရးထိုးခိုင္းျပီး မလိုက္နာပါက တည္ဆဲဥပေဒ ပုဒ္မအရ ထိေရာက္စြာ အေရးယူခံရမည္ျဖစ္ေၾကာင္းကို ရြာသားမ်ားမွ နားလည္သိရွိေၾကာင္း ဝန္ခံကတိ လက္မွတ္ေရးထိုးခုိင္းခဲ့သည္။
