Kachin Communities and Civil Society Call for Immediate Halt to the Humanitarian Crisis in Kachin State

Kachin people and their supporters will be protesting at the Burmese Embassy on the occasion of President Thein Sein’s visit to Thailand. They will deliver a letter to the president calling for an immediate end to the armed conflict, human rights violations and resulting humanitarian crisis in Kachin State. The letter is endorsed by Kachin organizations and communities around the world, as well as regional and international civil society organizations.

When: Tuesday 5 June at 10am

Where: Burmese Embassy, 132 Sathron Nua Road, Bangkok

The protest and letter delivery are a part of a series of actions around the world calling for an end to the humanitarian crisis in Kachin State. These actions are being organized to mark one year since fighting broke out between the Burma Army and the Kachin Independence Army on 9 June.
