Statement of 4th Meeting of Central Standing Committee of 14th Congress

The KNU Supreme Headquarters was able to hold well the 4th Central Standing Committee meeting from October 31to November 20, 2012 in the KNU area of Pa-an District.

Forty central standing committee and central standing committee candidate members attended the meeting and thoroughly reviewed the state of the organization, the KNU’s constitution and bylaws, the basic principles, policies and programs of the KNU and the political situation and, passed decisions and adopted reports, after necessary amendments.

Similarly, after deliberating on the changes currently taking place in the political situation of Burma and the political objectives of the ethnic nationalities, the meeting was able to lay down future work programs as follows.

For the emergence of genuine peace, the work of dialogue and negotiations will be continued in order to resolve the political problems.
Effort for emergence of a genuine Union will be made in accordance with the will of and jointly with the ethnic nationalities and the democratic forces.
For the emergence of genuine peace and for gaining the rights of the Karen people to enjoy the fruit of peace and equality, the KNU will work together with the Karen at home and abroad.
