Press Statement on Visit to Japan (2/2013)

1. Under the sponsorship of the Nippon Foundation (TNF) a delegation of the UNFC paid a visit to Tokyo, Japan, from April 1 to 5, 2013.

2. The TNF of Japan and the UNFC delegation together reviewed the work of delivering emergency aid in one year period, given by the TNF, to the Internally Displaced People (IDP) in the regions of the ethnic nationalities and had discussions on future programs.

3. During the trip, the UNFC delegation members had a chance to make courtesy calls on the highest leaders of the government of Japan.

4. The delegation discussed with the TNF and the Japanese government representatives on providing aid to the work of building social infrastructures,developing human resources and reconstruction projects, and assisting the dialogue for peace and national reconciliation processes.

5. In conclusion, the UNFC reaffirms its pledge to continue the struggle for the emergence of a Federal Union based on democracy, equality and self-determination of all the nationalities, genuine peace and national reconciliation, with the aid and assistance of peace loving countries and organizations, including Japan.
