Statement No. (10/2015) Statement of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission

  1. Myanmar National Human Rights Commission would like to commend the Union Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar for its decision to be a signatory to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR).
  2. The Commission also fervently looks forward to Myanmar becoming a State Party to ICESCR in the very near future and would also like to impress upon the Union Government to work towards becoming a State Party to all the other international human rights treaties.
  3. The Commission is committed to the principles of the mandate of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission Law to create a Myanmar society enabling the full enjoyment by everyone of fundamental rights and human rights enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
