Statement No.(11/2015) Statement regarding the Application of bail for the (4 )Student Demonstrators of Yadanarpon University, Mandalay Region to Appear for the Examination Statement

According to the information appearing in the media it was learnt that 3^rd year Biochemistry student Ko Naing Ye Wai, 3^rd Year Microbiology, Ko Jit Too, 4^th Year Physics, Ko Aung San Oo and 4^th year Maths, Ko Nyan Linn Htet are students currently studying at the Yadanarpon University. They have been put on trial under the law relating to the Right of Peaceful Assembly and Peaceful Procession and Penal Code Sections concerned at the Amarapura Township Court of Mandalay Region. It was learnt that they have been detained at the Mandalay Central Prison. Their applications for bail to appear for the examination have been rejected by the Amarapura Township Court.

It was also learnt that of the students and supporters who were arrested by the Myanmar Police Force and put on trial at Tharyarwady Township Court for taking part in the disturbances at Letpadan Township on the 10^th of March 2015, some of the students were given bail.

Therefore, with a view to protecting the right to education of the above mentioned students of Yadanarpon University ,the Commission would like to recommend that the application of bail of the students should be given due consideration by the Court.
