Statement on Union Peace Conference – 21st Century Panglong First Meeting

1. The UNFC emergency meeting (Extended) was held from August 24 to 25, 2016 and it reviewed and discussed on the various political situations, including the current peace process.

2. Reports were submitted on the outcomes of the meeting between the UNFC Delegation for Political Negotiation (DPN) and government delegation, held on August 20, 2016 at the National Reconciliation and Peace Center (NRPC), in Yangon, and the meeting reviewing the Framework for Political Dialogue and the first meeting of the Joint Committee for Convening the 21st Century Panglong Conference, held on August 21 and 22, and questions were asked and reviews were made.

3. Based on the discussions and reviews, this position statement is made to the effect that all the UNFC members together will attend and participate in the coming 21st Century Panglong Conference, with the aim of ascending onto the different phases of political dialogues, in order to achieve the establishment of a democratic federal union.
