Open Heart Report

The report is a compilation of findings in the letters sent to the 88 Generation Students of Burma during a campaign in which the student leaders encouraged the people to write letters to the Burmese generals about the difficulties they had been facing under military rule.

The 88 Generation student leaders are now in prison most of them sentenced to serve 65 years in prison. They were arrested by the military in August 2007 following mass protests over fuel oil price hikes and in the aftermath of the “Saffron Movement” during which hundreds of thousands of monks took to the streets peacefully to express support for the protesting masses.
