Statement regarding Hunger Strike Calling for the Release of all the Political Prisoners Undertaken by Aung Hmaing San who is Currently Being Held in Tharyarwaddy Prison for Taking Part in the Movement for Democratic Education

1. Today (23-10-2015) at 9am in the morning, student leader Aung Hmaing San launched hunger strike in Tharyarwaddy prison calling for the release of all the political prisoners currently being detained and imprisoned across the country.
2. Aung Hmaing San’s action calling for the release of all political prisoners is a politically correct decision and a call that must be fulfilled by current government.

3. Authorities must not react with violence against Aung Hmaing San peaceful undertaking of hunger strike, or cut communication, healthcare and water.
4. We call on all the people and political organizations to endorse, support and join Aung Hmaing San call for the release of all political prisoners.
5. ABFSU is very concerned about health condition of Aung Hmaing San as we continue to monitor his condition very closely.
We hereby issue a strong warning that all the consequences that result from hunger strike undertaken by Aung Hmaing San for the release of political prisoners is entirely the responsibility of the government.
